Obituary

Pastor Larry R. Nuttall, 79, passed away on Christmas day, December 25, 2020 peacefully at his home. He was born on June 26, 1941, in Sumner, IL to Raymond and Mildred (Andrus) Nuttall. He married Virginia Joy Johnson on February 3,1962 in Lockport, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents. Larry is survived his wife; his 5 children, Donald (Deneane) Nuttall of Carlinville, IL, Annette Gauwitz of Washington, IL, Aimee (Steve) Hawkins of Avon Park, FL, Jonathan Nuttall of Bridgeton, MO, and Adam (Caty) Nuttall of LaCrosse, WI; twelve grandchildren, Tony Nuttall, Donald (Stacy) Nuttall Jr., Nicholas Moore, Nichole (Paul) Hull, Alexa Moore, Elizabeth (Mike) McWhirter, Felicia Nuttall, Daniel (Amanda) Gauwitz, Joshua Nuttall, Benjamin, Haley and Carter Nuttall; four great-grandchildren, Greyson, Olivia, Ellianna, and Isaiah; and his sister Shirley (Dennis) Ryan of Joliet, IL. Larry shared the love of Jesus to everyone he met throughout his life. He became a credentialed minister with the Illinois District Council Assemblies of God. He served in churches in Illinois including Peoria, Washington, Clinton, El Paso, and Toluca. Larry also was as a chaplain at Methodist Hospital in Peoria. He had a special place in his heart for disabled persons and children, and directed the children's ministry at the Assemblies of God Family Camps and the Illinois Special Touch Camps in Carlinville, IL. He also traveled internationally on mission trips to Costa Rica, Mexico, Poland, Russia, and domestic trips including American Indian College in Arizona. A celebration of Larry's life will be at 11:00 am Satruday, August 21, 2021 at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in East Peoria, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Illinois Adult and Teen Challenge c/o 2075 Washington Road, Washington, IL 61571.
