Obituary

Larry E. Blake, 68, of Congerville, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at his home.  Larry was born on December 11, 1957, in Pekin, the son of the late Eldon and Mary (Troyer) Blake.

Larry worked for many years as a welder at DMI, as a truck driver, and later as a warehouse operator when it became CNH until he retired.  Outside of work he was an avid outdoorsman that loved camping; Larry was fortunate enough to camp at many of the national parks.  Larry enjoyed owning and riding motorcycles, riding his Harley to the Sturgis Bike Rally was the trip of a lifetime for Larry.  He enjoyed cheering for the Chicago Bears and watching NASCAR cheering for Dale Sr.  Mostly Larry loved to spend time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his children: Dawn Siltman of Washington, Nick (Amy) Blake of Germantown Hills, Kandace (Jonathon) Roth of Congerville, seven grandchildren: Kaitlin, Morgan, Mylie, Landyn, Kherington, Brexley, and Eliza, three sisters: Jean Zimmerman of Rantoul, Jane (John) Bateson of Clinton, Cathy Swiercz of Arkansas, a brother Jim (Bev) Blake of Deer Creek, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to his parents Larry was preceded in death by his brother Gary (Suzie) Blake, and a son-in-law Jeff Siltman.

To honor Larry's wishes cremation rites will be accorded by Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.  A private inurnment will take place at Mt Zion Cemetery in Deer Creek.  Please join Larry's family celebrating his life on Saturday, September 12, from 4-7 pm at the Deer Creek American Legion.

Those who wish may leave memorials in Larry's name to the National Parks Association where Larry proudly donated and supported.
