Kurt L. Heyungs, loving husband and father 54, of Secor, died at 12:31 pm on Friday, September 8, 2023 in his home surrounded by loved ones.

He was born May 13, 1969 to Sharon Schwarzlose and Jack Heyungs in Bloomington, IL. He married Cara Hittle on July 13, 2013 in Eureka, IL; she survives.

Also surviving are his parents Sharon (Mike) Guhlstorf, Jack (Cindy) Heyungs; his children, Tyler Gazelle, Faughn Pierson (fiance Blayze), Lucas Heyungs,and Lexi Heyungs; 1 grandson on the way, Xander; 3 siblings, Lisa (Mark) Myers, Kelly (Jake) Covey, and Kevin Heyungs; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews; Aunts, uncles and cousins.

Kurt was preceded in death by his son Levi, Maternal and Paternal grandparents, and several aunts. Kurt was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working on projects. He was a talented handyman, always willing to help people in need. His smile was infectious and he loved to make people laugh. He was known to enjoy his treats as he had a sweet tooth. No matter the time of day Kurt had his signature

sunglasses on.

Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Cremation has been accorded. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 4-6 pm at the VFW in Washington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Kurt.
