Kimberly Mormann, 41, of Chicago, formerly of Germantown Hills, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020 surrounded by family at her sister's home in Washington. She is survived by her parents Pam Mormann of Peoria and Paul (Nancy) Mormann of Morton; her sister, Kate (Dominic) Lang of Washington; nephews, Jude and Reid; aunts and uncles Teresa (Terry) Gardner, Kenneth (Sherry) Ohern, Sue (Jim) Green, and Gary (Peggy) McConkey; many cousins; and her significant other, Patrick Orr of Tinley Park. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Arthur and Virginia Kittleson and William and Shirley Mormann; and her golden retriever, Tucker. Kimberly was born May 23, 1979 in Peoria to Paul W. Mormann and Pamela A. (Kittleson) Mormann and attended Metamora Township High School. She was passionate about science, and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry from Illinois State University and a Master's degree in biology from DePaul. She most recently worked at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering as a lab safety specialist. She loved living the city life, moving to Chicago from San Diego. Her other great love was for animals. She was a competitive horseback rider when she was younger, she worked at the San Diego Zoo, and loved supporting animal rescues. Kimberly loved being an aunt, a dog mom, and her family. For nearly a year, she battled cancer, a testament to her fierce independence. Thanks to Sue Lang and OSF Hospice, her final days were more comfortable and dignified. A private family memorial will be held. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PAWS Chicago or Jude and Reid's Lemonade Stand for St. Jude.
