Obituary PEKIN--Kelley McMurtrey, 46, of Pekin, died at 2:05 PM, on Friday, January 5, 2007 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. She was born on September 25, 1960 in Indianapolis, Indiana to John and Phyllis Napier Rhodes. She married Larry McMurtrey on December 8, 1979 in Peoria, Illinois; he survives. Also surviving are 3 sons, Gregory (Kristina) McMurtrey of Peoria, Ryan (Julie) McMurtrey of Pekin, and Kyle McMurtrey of Creve Coeur; her mother, Phyllis (Gerald) Beyer of Dayton, OH; her father, John (Barbara) Rhodes of Yancyville, NC; 1 sister, Debra Green of Indianapolis, IN; a step-brother, Joseph Beyer of Dayton, OH; and her step-sister, Judy (Danny) Ilhardt of Cincinnati, OH. Kelley worked as a teller for several local banks and then became a sales associate in the paint department at Menards in Pekin where she was able to use her creative decorating ability to help others. Kelley was an avid gardener and painter, and enjoyed sunsets and traveling to beach destinations. Most important to Kelley was her family, friends and pets. A memorial service to honor Kelley's life will be held at 6 PM on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at Deiters Funeral Home in East Peoria. Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
