Kathy Burton, 69, of Washington, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on the morning of Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at UnityPoint Health- Methodist in Peoria. Kathy was born on April 15, 1949 to the late Lloyd and Phyllis Sommer Mehrhoff. She married Clifton "Bud" Burton on April 9, 1965 in Lincoln, IL. Kathy and Bud enjoyed 53 wonderful years together. They spent their first year of marriage in Scotland, continued to South Carolina and then came back home. Most recently they lived in Washington, IL and spent their winters in Florida. Surviving is the love of her life Buddy, of Washington, daughters Denise (John) Shelton of Washington and Denia (Stacy) Janssen of Eureka; grandchildren, Janell, Landon, Caroline, Quinton, and Coleton; great-grandchildren, Keegan and Jaxson; and a brother, Bill Mehrhoff and 3 cherished nephews living in Wisconsin. Kathy was a loving wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, aunt and friend. She was a proud member of First United Methodist Church of East Peoria for over 50 years and loved her church family. Kathy enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida. A funeral service for Kathy will be held at 10:00am Monday, October 15, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church of East Peoria. Rev. Mary Arnold will officiate. Visitation will be from 1-3:00pm Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
