Katherine S. Young, 71, of Washington, passed away at 5:43 am Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. She was born Oct. 20, 1946 in Washington to Donald and Mary Lee Guth Rider. She married Jack Young in Washington on Nov. 19, 1966. He preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 2017. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are her children, Todd B. (Diane) Young, Ellen M. (Keith) DeLap; 4 grandchildren, Samuel, Tricia, Paul, and Paige; great-granddaughter, Ava; and 4 siblings, Woody (Kaye) Rider, Stephen (Karen) Rider, Keith (Lori) Rider, and Mary (Ken) Meischner. Katherine graduated from Washington Community High School. She worked as a secretary at Dee-Mack Middle School before retiring. She was a member of Calvary Community Church in Washington where her funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, July 26, 2018. Pastor Clayton Tinervin will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm Wednesday, July 25th at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, with further visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 am Thursday at church. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Community Church Women in Mission.
