Karen M. Yocum, 69, of Washington, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at Carle Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria.
Karen was born October 16, 1956 in Urbana to Dillon and Anna Jean Thompson Williams; she went on to marry Michael Yocum on June 13, 1980 in Peoria.
Surviving is her husband, Mike; their children, Kyle (Nicki) Yocum and Amy Yocum (Mark Egan); grandchildren, Chloe and Cason; and her seven siblings and their large families.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Angela.
Karen was secretary for Steamfitters Local 53 for several years until she became a stay at home mom. She loved being a Den Mother, working in her garden, and creating a welcoming and loving home. Karen loved time spent with her family and lunch dates with Mike. She enjoyed traveling regularly to Texas, a Holy Land trip with Mike, and especially a Disney Cruise with the whole family. She will be remembered for her gentle way, her kind disposition, and her abiding faith and trust in Jesus.
A gathering to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Connect Church in Washington, with a small gathering to follow with coffee, tea, and desserts. Cremation rites have been accorded.
