Junior Wood, 94, of Washington, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

He was born as a twin on June 12, 1929 in Pomona, MO to Elmer J. and Olive Shadwell Wood.  He married Nancy L. Lovins in Burnham, MO on July 20, 1948.  She preceded him in death on August 31, 2013.  He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Phillip; daughter-in-law, Ada; and six siblings, Evelyn, Virginia, Raymond, Nellie, Kenneth and twin sister, June.

Surviving are five children, Bruce Wood, Joyce (Donald) Wood Harter, Gregory "Mark" Wood, John (Lois) Wood, Lovina Wood Farden; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one brother, Neil (Edith) Wood.

Junior worked at Komatsu Mining System, formerly WABCO and LeTourneau Westinghouse for 40 years, retiring in 1993.

He was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, fishing, feeding the birds and spending time with his friends and family.  He will be dearly missed.

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 11th at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington.  Visitation will be one hour before the service from 10 to 11am at the funeral home on Saturday.  Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Washington Public Library or to the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
