Obituary WASHINGTON-Joy S. Lander Heitmann, 68, of Washington, IL, died at 7:20 am Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Heartland of Riverview in East Peoria, IL. Joy was born on July 7, 1943 in Great Falls, Montana to Earle J. Lander Sr. and Agnes C. Watne Lander. She graduated from Great Falls class of 1961. Joy then married Ben F. Heitmann on August 1, 1964 and they raised three children. He died on June 19, 1994. Joy was involved in many service organizations when her husband was in the Air Force. She served in the American Legion, both in Okinawa, Japan and stateside. Joy was a Girl Scout Leader and also enjoyed bowling, bingo, bunco gambling and traveling. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Washington, IL. Survivors include 2 daughters, Lori (Bill) Wireman of Washington, IL and Kim Mohr of Memphis, MO; her beloved daughter-in-law, Jennifer Heitmann Kemper of Winchester, IL; son, Benjamin J. Heitmann of Warsaw, IL; her beloved grandchildren, Nicole (Robert) Bergman, James Wireman, Krystina (Jimmy) Herren, Jennifer Mohr, Mackenzie and Benjamin Heitmann, Brock, Marshall, and Tatum Heitmann; great-grandsons, Dillion, Braxton, and Easton Herren; sister-in-laws, Bonnie Lander of California and Karen Lander of Washington; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; her loving caretakers, Sharon Gruber and Bobbie McIvin. The family would like to thank the nurses, certified nurse assistants, and staff at Proctor, Triumph, and Riverview and especially thank Diane and Quansha, Sara E., Robin, and the whole great staff at East Peoria Dialysis Center, especially Mindy and Lisa. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, Earle J. Jr., Martin, and Don, her husband, and her beloved grandson, Billy Wireman, who was killed in 2001. A memorial service will be at 2 pm Friday, August 12, 2011 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Pastor John Rothfusz will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded and inurnment will be at 1 pm Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal, MO.
