Obituary Josephine "Jo" Gilbert, 95, of East Peoria, passed away at 3:55am, Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at the Grand Victorian, Washington. Jo was born January 3, 1918 in Groveland Township, Tazewell County, to Frank and Evrosia Conducci Gianessi. She married Richard "Dick" Gilbert August 2, 1941 in Peoria. He preceded her in death December 20, 1993. Surviving are three sons, Dennis (Marsha) Gilbert, Tierra Verde, FL; Don (Sue) Gilbert, East Peoria; and Rich (Cheryl) Gilbert, Peoria; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; one brother, Albert Gianessi, East Peoria; and one sister-in-law, Grace Gianessi, Kansas City, KS. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Frank Gianessi and a sister, Gina Lakin. Jo graduated in 1936 from East Peoria High School. She attended Brown's Business College, graduating in 1937. She first worked for John F. Lyle, Justice of the Peace in Peoria from 1937-1941. When Mr. Lyle died, she worked for Hayes Freight Lines in Peoria. After her first son was born in 1943, she left Hayes and was homemaker until 1953, when she went to work at Caterpillar Tractor Co. She worked in the engineering department at Cat until retiring in 1980. The family would like to thank the staff of the Grand Victorian for the relationship they built with Jo during her time there. Funeral mass for Jo will be held Friday, August 9, 2013 at 10:00am at St. Monica's Catholic Church, East Peoria. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00pm, Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory, East Peoria and one half hour prior to mass at the church. Interment will be at Fondulac Cemetery, East Peoria.
