METAMORA - Joseph M. Vanecko, 73, of Metamora, passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021. He was born in Detroit, MI to Joseph A. and Helen Vanecko and was married to Janet A. Poliak in Peoria on October 11, 1975. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Jonathan (Holly) Vanecko, Jason (Amanda) Vanecko, and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert. Joseph was an Army Veteran and worked as a metallurgical engineer at Caterpillar Inc. retiring after 32 years of service. He was a member of the American Society for Metals, Society of Plastics Engineers, Tau Beta Pi Honor Society, and American Legion. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, gardening, golf, Ohio State football, photography, and woodworking. Cremation has been accorded. Private services will be held at a later date.
