Obituary WASHINGTON - Joseph Peter Sobieski, 15, of Washington passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at 10:53AM at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Joseph was born August 28, 1999 in Peoria to Raymond and Amy Vanderwarf Sobieski. They survive. Also surviving are his sisters, Carolyn and Samantha Sobieski of Washington; his grandmothers, Nancy Sobieski of East Peoria and Mary Vanderwarf of Palos Heights; his aunts and uncles, Mari Sobieski of Palos Heights, Peter (Hazel) Sobieski of Chicago, Charlie (Rich) Vanderwarf of Berwyn, Debbie (Donald) O'Malley of Orland Park, Cathy (Bob) Uskali of Schaumburg, and Pam (Dan) Witkus of Oak Lawn; and numerous cousins and loving caregivers. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Peter Sobieski and Thomas Vanderwarf, and one uncle, Michael Sobieski. He was a student at Schramm School in Pekin. Joseph loved attending Peoria Chiefs and Rivermen games with family and friends and watching Scooby-Doo, Big Bang Theory, Bubble Guppies, and Frozen. He enjoyed drinking milkshakes, eating garlic mashed potatoes, and playing with his puppies, Dazzle and Max. Joseph loved swimming, reading Where the Wild Things Are, and singing "Soft Kitty." He was a beloved son, brother, grandson, and nephew who will be dearly missed. His infectious smile will be forever cherished in the hearts of all those who knew him. Memorial contributions may be made to the PMD (Pelizaeus-Merzbacher Disease) Foundation to help support other families that are affected by the disease. A funeral Mass for Joseph will be held Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 10:00AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington. Father Stephen Willard will officiate. A visitation will be held Friday, November 28, 2014 from 4:00PM-6:00PM at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, with recitation of the Rosary at 3:30PM. On Saturday, an additional visitation will be held a half hour prior to the Mass at church. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria.
