Obituary
WASHINGTON--Joseph "Jim" P. Reames, 79, of Washington, died at 3:50 PM, on Sunday, April 22, 2007 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
He was born on February 8, 1928 in Sandridge, Illinois to Charles and Iva Mae Gregerson Reames. He married Betty Swiger on April 19, 1958 in Peoria, IL; she survives.
Also surviving is 2 sons, Geral (Becky) Reames of East Peoria, IL, James (Jenni) Reames of Washington, IL; 3 daughters, Debra (Frank) Disney of Morton, IL, Denise (Craig Evans) Reames of Washington, IL, and Carol (Dean) Trotter of Hanna City, IL; 6 brothers, Calvin E. Reames of Lakeland, FL, David (Greta) Reames of Hollister, MO, Lawrance Douglas (Wendy) Reames of Peoria, IL, Phillip (Sharron) Reames of Lexington, SC, Thomas Reames of Murphysboro, IL, and William (Sandy) Reames of St. Petersburg, FL; 3 sisters, Donna Rae Hild of St. Louis, MO, and Laura Lee (Johnny) Husband of Steeleville, IL, and Mary Beth (Gary) Scott of Stonefort, IL; and 8 grandchildren, Danielle and Joseph Reames; Paul Disney; Alyssa and Jolie Trotter, Braeden, Kaelyn and James Reames.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 1 brother-in-law, and 2 sisters-in-law.
He had served in both the US Army and the US Navy from 1945-1957.
Joseph was a machinist for Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria, IL, where he worked for 33 years before he retired in 1982.
He taught guitar lessons, piloted small planes and was a Ham Radio operator. He was one of the kindest and gentlest of men and will be missed deeply.
A memorial service will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. The Rev. James F. Williams will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1-3 PM on Saturday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded.
The Family extends gratitude to the many health providers who cared for Joseph in the past days and years.
