Obituary

Archie Lyons, 83, of Washington, passed away at 10:20pm Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria. He was born December 10, 1937 in Sandoval, IL to the late Joseph Archie and O'Linda Susan Just Lyons. He married Gisela Haschke on July 29, 1957 in Peoria; she preceded him in death on November 14, 2001. Surviving are his children, Lory Sandberg of Washington, Debbie (Lee) Leal of Austin, TX, Heidi (Scott) Crumrine of Washington, Molly (Chuck) Gray of Peoria, and Archie Lyons (Tom Coy) of Germantown Hills; grandchildren, Shirley and Ivan Sandberg; Moriah, Timothy, Isaac and Amos Crumrine; Danielle and Rachel Gray, and Lincoln Coy; great-grandsons, Tanner and Noah Sandberg; brother, Dave (Janis) Lyons; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal Ann Lyons and a sister, Ethel Forsberg. Archie graduated from Woodruff High School and Sangamon State University. He also served in the Army Reserve. He retired from CILCO in 1996, as a purchasing manager after 40 years of service. He was active in East Peoria as part of the Noon Optimist Club, a City Council Member and was a past Citizen of the Year. Archie also volunteered with the Festival of Lights for many years, and helped design and build the Duck and Ducklings float among others. He lent a helping hand wherever he could, whether it was for Relay for Life or the Red Cross. He was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Washington and the National Association of Purchasing Managers. Archie was ever the gentleman, but above all else, he was a devoted husband, dad and grandpa who always put his family first. A funeral service for Archie will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Faith Lutheran Church in Washington, Pastor John Rothfusz will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7:00pm Monday, July 19, 2021 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, and one half hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church.
