Obituary WASHINGTON-Joseph L. Jackson, 79, of Washington, IL died at 8:01 am Friday, December 16, 2011 at his home. Born on January 12, 1932 in East Peoria, IL to George W. and Mildred Williams Jackson, he married Geraldine E. Jones on January 5, 1952 in East Peoria. She survives. Also surviving are 1 son, Steve (Tammy) Jackson and 1 daughter, Kathy (Jeff) McGuire, both of East Peoria; 1 sister, Kathryn Royal of Lake Wales, FL; 2 grandchildren, Steve Jackson Jr. of Peoria and Austin McGuire of East Peoria, and 5 great-grandchildren, Zack, Jonathon, Joe, Steven, and Josie. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters. Joseph started working at 16 years of age at Peoria Brick & Tile Co. in East Peoria. He then worked for A & P and Rosells Sealtest Dairy in Peoria, where he met the love of his life, Geraldine. Joseph later retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co. as a material control clerk. Joseph was a member of Faith Church in Washington. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Pastor Steve Graffis will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in rural Morton.
