Jon P. Penrod, 79, of Washington, passed away at 4:27 pm Monday, January 17, 2022 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born January 1, 1943 in Troy, Ohio to Francis K. and Lorene Augbaugh Penrod.  He married Carla M. Harrison on March 25, 1978 in East Peoria.  She survives.

Also surviving is three children, Stacey (Danny) Reed, Steven (Danette) Penrod, Scott (Kara) Penrod; and four grandchildren, Demi Johnson, Talon Penrod, Peyton Penrod, and Jackson Penrod.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant brother.

Jon was a United States Army Veteran.  He graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in agriculture.  He owned the Penrod Commission Company at the Peoria Stock Yards from 1970 to 1993.  He later worked at the Hormel Packing Company in Rochelle before retiring.

He was an avid golfer and Ohio State Football fan.  He will be dearly missed.

Cremation has been accorded.  There will be no services.  Inurnment will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington at a later date.  Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greater Peoria Honor Flight.
