He is also survived by his children, Bob Naugle of Mountain Home, AK, Sandy (Bill) Mantle of Washington, IL, and Becky Naugle of Murphysboro, IL; his grandchildren, Jessica Naugle, Robert Naugle, Zachary (Stephani) Mantle, and Mickie (Bryan) Newby; 12 great grandchildren; his sisters, Sue Cole and Ima Jean Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.

Johnnie was drafted into the army in 1953 and served in France two years before being honorably discharged. After serving in the army, he married and moved to Washington, Illinois to work at Caterpillar as an engine technician. He retired from Caterpillar after 36 years in 1989. After retiring, Johnnie enjoyed fishing, hunting with his beloved beagles, mowing grass and music. He was an excellent guitar player and could pick up any instrument and learn to play it in days. His children and grandchildren will miss the "hoedowns" with grandpa at the holidays. A faithful Christian and member of the Paris Avenue Church of Christ, he was often seen cutting grass at the church along with making other contributions. Johnnie was a kind man and dedicated to his children and grandchildren. He was a loving father who was always there for his children and could be seen in the stands rooting for them in baseball and softball. He enjoyed his grandchildren, often babysitting and taking them to and from school.
