Obituary
John V. Schwarzentraub, 89, of Eureka, passed away at 10:50am, Thursday January 1, 2015 at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria.
John was born January 15, 1925 in Peoria to Victor and Augusta Moehl Schwarzentraub; they preceded him in death. He married Doris Dausmann September 5, 1948 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington; she survives.
Also surviving are their children, Mary Catania of Industry, Carol (Bill) Sherman of Kingston, Barb (Gary) Hodel of Carlock, and John (Connie) Schwarzentraub of Eureka; granddaughter, Sarah Schwarzentraub; brother, Paul (Rosemary) Schwarzentraub of Morton; sister in law, Donna Dausmann of Morton; and several nieces and nephews.
John farmed his family's land outside Eureka his entire life. He was a member and past president of the Eureka Farmers' Grain Board and the Illinois Farm Bureau Farm Management Board. He also served on the Washington High School Board and the Tazewell County Service Company Board. John was a lifelong member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am Monday, January 5, 2015 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Hirstein Cemetery in rural Morton. Pastor John Bates and Pastor Richard Hanson will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
