Obituary WASHINGTON - John "Bud" McCoy, 77, of 1502 Fayette, Washington, died at 6:06 pm Sunday, January 21, 2007 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Born on March 25, 1929 in Easton, IL to Charles and Lillie Cheedle McCoy, he married Marilyn R. Trimpe on July 5, 1953 in Havana, IL. She survives. Also surviving are 2 sons, Gary (Deborah) McCoy and Steve (Debbie) McCoy, both of Washington, IL and 1 daughter Kathy (Terry) Carlson also of Washington, 5 Grandchildren, Josh and Brandon Carlson, and Darin, Stephanie, and Sarah McCoy, 1 step-grandson, Scott Mattingly and 1 Step-Great-Grandson Devon Mattingly. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister. He was a US Navy Veteran, serving during the Korean War. John was a Tool and Die Maker at Caterpillar for 40 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the UAW Local #974. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington. He enjoyed bowling and traveling with his trailer on camping trips throughout the United States. He was a loving husband, father, and devoted grandfather. He enjoyed time watching and encouraging his grandchildren in their sports and activities. Services will be at 11 am Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at Deiters Funeral Home in Washington. The Rev. Alice J. Gwin will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at the funeral home. Additional visitation will be held 1 hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton, where military rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to the Washington Area Community Center.
