Obituary

Obituary John E. Lewis, 68, of Peoria, passed away at 12:25 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015 at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, IL. He was born October 1, 1946 in Avon, IL to Stanley and Marian Foster Lewis. He married Rosemary Sabetti in Abingdon, IL on March 17, 1968. She survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Dana (Rodger) Graves of East Peoria, Katie Lewis of Peoria Heights; 3 grandchildren, Taylor, Alyssa, and Ryan Graves; and his brother, Sidney R. Lewis of Abingdon. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. John was a graduate of Abingdon High School in 1965. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. After his discharge from the Army John completed the apprenticeship program with Caterpillar Inc. and worked at the Mossville location retiring in 1999 after 30 years of service. He was a former member of Parkview Church in Peoria. John enjoyed being a ham radio operator. The family wants to send a special thank you to the Director of Nursing at the Knox County Nursing Home and her caring staff. In lieu of flowers tax deductible contributions may be made to The Penguin Project Foundation at 306 W. Morningside Dr. in Peoria, IL 61614. John's Funeral Service will be at 12 Noon Monday, May 11, 2015 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria, with Rev. Steve Barch officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services.
