Obituary
WASHINGTON--John W. Hook, 67, of Washington, died at 4:06 PM, on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, IL. He was born on August 2, 1940 in Virginia, Minnesota to Floyd and Mabel Larson Hook. He married Ruth Ann Whitford on August 6, 1963 in Kendallville, Indiana; Ruth survives. Also surviving are 2 sons, John F. (Melody) Hook of Fort Worth, TX, and Mark A. Hook of Denten, TX; 1 brother, Jim (Maggie) Hook of Whitter, CA; 3 grandchildren, Brandy, Bonnie and Jennifer and 5 great grandchildren, Austin, Kaytelyn, Tayler, Charity and Chancie. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 brother, Donald. John was a member of the Army National Guard for 4 years before joining the US Air Force, where he served from 1965 until 1969. John worked as a Boiler and Machinery Inspector for Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company and for the Indiana Insurance Company before taking medical retirement in 1999. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Washington, the Polka Lovers of America Club, the Pulmonary Rehab Group at Proctor Hospital, and the Nan A. Wise Organ Class at Don's Music Land in Peoria. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Washington. Pastor Joe Gardner will officiate. Private inurnment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
