Obituary John Hoffmire Jr., 63, of Morton, passed away and was welcomed into Jesus Christ his loving Savior's arms at 4:06 pm on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria after a courageous 4 year battle with thymus cancer. He was born Jan. 11, 1953 in Peoria, IL to John C. and Norma G. Alexander Hoffmire Sr. He married Donna Meyer on April 28, 1990 in Washington, IL. She survives. Also surviving are his father and step-mother, John (and Goldie) Harrison-Hoffmire Sr. of Morton; son, Joshua Meyer of Eureka; daughter, Jenna Hoffmire of Morton; 3 grandchildren, Ethan Meyer, Johanna Meyer, Jayden Hoffmire; brother, Mark Hoffmire of San Jose, CA; 3 step-brothers, Ray, Kevin and Steve; 2 step-sisters, Debbie and Luella; 2 nephews and niece, Brad, Sam and Erin Hoffmire; and 2 uncles, Carl (and Keydoll) Hoffmire and Maurice (and Judy) Hoffmire. He was preceded in death by his mother, and 1 brother, James. John worked for the Peoria Park District as assistant manager at Bradley Park before retiring due to his illness. He was a life member of Sunnyland Christian Church. John's faith was strengthened even more as he joined the church Praise Band and lovingly sang and played his guitar for the Lord. It was his honor to be a church elder and say prayers at the communion table. John's family would like to extend a special thank you to the Illinois Cancer Care Peoria and all of the special staff on the 3400 unit at OSF St. Francis Medical Center for all of their loving care. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sunnyland Christian Church or Illinois Cancer Care Peoria. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm Friday, Sept. 16, 2016 at Sunnyland Christian Church in Washington, IL with his funeral service to follow at 6 pm with Pastor Evan Williams officiating. Cremation will be accorded following the service and a graveside service will be at 10 am on Saturday, Sept. 17th at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
