John Frederick "Fred" Ripper, 74, of Washington, passed away at 9:30pm Sunday, January 3, 2021 at UnityPoint Health Methodist in Peoria. Fred was born November 26, 1946 in Peoria to the late Lawrence and Beryl Woods Ripper. He married Rosa Certalic on September 22, 1971 in Washington. Surviving is his wife, Rosa of Washington; his children, John (Heather) Ripper, Jennifer (Greg) Corey, and Marcie Snow; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three brothers. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, one brother, and a son, Robert. Fred was an ASE certified autobody technician for 40 years. He worked for Larson's of Springfield repairing Peterbilt trucks and later became the second shift shop manager, retiring in 2008. In his retirement worked as a custodian at ISU. Fred loved taking his grandkids fishing, riding his Harleys and driving his Corvette. A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton. Pastor Jason Seibert will officiate. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
