Obituary WASHINGTON - John William "Jack" Everett Sr., 83, of Washington, passed away at 9:30 pm Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Washington Christian Village in Washington, IL. Mr. Everett traveled to his final resting place while resting comfortably in the company of his wife, children, and grandson. Jack was the oldest son of Earl W. and Margaret F. (Peplow) Everett. He married Gloria Marie Bour on July 4, 1953 in Chicago, IL. She survives. Also surviving are 3 children; Sharon Kemp of Snellville, GA, Connie (Gary) Rogers of Lawrenceville, GA , and John William Everett Jr. of Sandy Springs, GA, 8 brothers and sisters; Marvin T. (Phyllis) Everett of Peoria, IL, Phyllis C. (Ronald) Veiria of Fresno, CA, Valorie J. Everett of Bartonville, IL, Earlene (Raymond) Martens of Pekin, IL, Mary K. Powers of Peoria, IL, Betty L. (Robert) Bohm of East Peoria, IL, William (Ruby) Everett of Riverton, IL, and Robert (Nancy) Everett of Peoria, IL, 9 grandchildren; Robert T. Burton of TX, Brian Howe of GA, Sherrie (Tony) Corder of IL, and Kevin (Jennifer) Howe, Kerrie (Eric) Byles, Elizabeth Kemp, Scott Rogers, Kristofer (Haley) Kemp, and Jeffrey Kemp, all of GA, 12 great-grandchildren; Robert T. Burton III, Jaime Burton, Darien Swanson, Cayenne Swanson, Cody Corder, Tristian Corder, Gage Corder, Mandy Corder, Claudia Hoff, Skye Howe, Olivia Kemp, and Andrew Byles. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Thomas, his parents, 1 brother, Thomas Everett, and 3 sisters, Shirley Maston, Margaret Wallman, and Geraldine Silverman. Jack served his country proudly in the United States Navy and at the time of his discharge, assumed the role of primary caregiver for his parents, grandfather, and twelve siblings. Jack continued throughout the remainder of his life to always placing others first. After forty- three years of service to Caterpillar Tractor Co. as a tool and dye maker, he retired to travel to visit his children and devoted his life to God. Jack was a member and usher at St. Patrick Church in Washington, IL, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Fr. John Menco Council #6707 in Washington. He and Gloria were also Associate members of the Sisters of Mary of the Presentation in Valley City, ND. He held the post of Secretary/Treasurer of the Isaac Walton League of America as well as a member of the American Legion. Jack also served on Walter Ruther's advisory board for the UAW skilled trades union. In his spare time Jack enjoyed bowling with his wife and children and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. A funeral mass for Jack will be at 11 am Friday, August 26, 2011 at St. Patrick Church in Washington. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, where recitation of the rosary will be at 8 pm. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at the church. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton, where military honors will be accorded by the United States Navy and the Tazewell Military Rites Team.
