Obituary John L. Brashers, 83, of Washington, passed away at 5:16 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2015 at his residence. He was born December 14, 1931 in Charity, MO to Robert and Orvilla Nottingham Brashers. He married Emma Marie "Re" Tott in Harrison, AR on June 30, 1952. She preceded him in death on Nov. 21, 2008. He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary Leo Brashers; one sister, Marie Gregg; 3 brothers, William Arizona Brashers, Roy Lee Brashers, Charles Loren Brashers; granddaughter, Brittney Brashers; and daughter-in-law, Suzanne Brashers. Surviving are 2 sons, Phillip Brashers of Treasure Island, FL, Barry Brashers of Yates City, IL; 2 daughters, Brenda (Doug) Hunter of Metamora, Teresa Brashers of Peoria; 8 grandchildren, Chandra (Eddy) Doyle, Sara (Trent) Walter, John Brashers, Krista Hunter, Ashley (Edmund) Gilgenbach, Kyle and Cody Brashers, Chase Robinson; and 6 great-grandchildren, Connor and Sophia Doyle, Corbin and Sloane Walter, Isla Gilgenbach and Barret Brashers. John was a United States Air Force Korean War Veteran. He worked at Caterpillar Inc. retiring after 35 years of service. He was a pilot and enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his garden, tinkering, and fixing all sorts of things. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to OSF Hospice or Northern Tazewell Fire Department. A service to celebrate John's life will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington with Rev. John King officiating.
