Obituary John R. Beckett, 60, of Pekin, died at 7:00am Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at his residence. John was born February 8, 1956 in Peoria to Merle and Ruth Smith Beckett. He married Golda Mitchell on March 25, 1977 in Peoria. Surviving is his wife; 2 daughters, April Egan of Manito and Britany (Gene) Gibson of Pekin; 3 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, 5 sisters, 6 brothers, son-in-law Dennis Egan of Topeka, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant son James Thomas Beckett and a sister, Patricia Potter. John attended Spoon River College and St. Francis College of Nursing. He was proud to be an paramedic. He served with the Sand Ridge Fire Protection District and later served 10 years with Mason County Ambulance Service. He was an avid Cubs fan and earned his Eagle Scout rank. The family will gather with friends from noon-close Fri. April 8, 2016 Legion Post 100 in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for funeral expenses.
