John A. Smith, 75, of Washington, passed away Friday, August 12, 2022 at UnityPoint Health- Methodist in Peoria.

John was born January 30, 1947 in London, England to the late Ernest C. and Una A. LaPage Smith.

He married Deborah G. Utzinger on August 3, 1984 in Peoria; she survives. Also surviving is his sister, Lorraine Didinal of England.

John loved anything mechanical. He put this talent to use over his 23 year career as an electronics engineer at Parker Hannifin. But he also used it restoring many classic and antique motorcycles over the years, beginning at age 14. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, working in his garden, and was an excellent problem solver.

Visitation will be from 5-7:00pm Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Private inurnment will be at Wiley Cemetery at Blyton, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
