Obituary Joey J. Hill, 55, of East Peoria passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 11:31AM at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Joey was born December 22, 1958 in Clinton, AR to Jerrel Sr. and Barbara Hodge Hill. Surviving are his father, Jerrel (Ola) Hill Sr. of Crystal City, MO and his mother, Barbara Hill of East Peoria; his brother, J. Dwight (Julie) Hill of Germantown Hills; one nephew, Jeramie (Amanda) Hill of East Peoria; and three great-nieces, Michelle and Morgan Hill, both of Byrdstown, TN and Brianna Wilkerson of East Peoria. Joey was a 1977 graduate of Metamora Township High School. He most recently worked for OSF St. Francis ministry services in plant operations. Joey was named by his father after Major League Baseball pitcher, Joey Jay. He enjoyed both watching and playing baseball. Joey was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and also enjoyed playing hockey. Joey will be remembered as the "gentle giant". He always has a smile on his face and had the ability to make a friend anywhere he went. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to PAWS. There will be a visitation for Joey on Friday, August 29, 2014 from 4-6PM at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. Cremation rites will be accorded.
