Obituary EAST PEORIA - Joanna S. (Chitwood) Meyer, 65, of Plain City, OH, formerly of East Peoria, IL, passed away at 1:45 am Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Kobacker House in Columbus, OH, after a lengthy and heroic battle with breast cancer. Born on December 10, 1945 in Pekin, IL to Clyde and Winifred Garrett Chitwood, she married Wendell Meyer on June 4, 1967 in Bartonville, IL. He survives. Also surviving are 1 daughter, Stephanie (John) White-Hunt of Whitehouse Station, NJ; granddaughter, Breanna; sister, Roxanna (Albert) Lipke of Bartonville, IL, and extended family and friends. Joanna graduated from Limestone High School in 1963. She excelled at gardening, growing and drying flowers and enjoyed wintering in Sebring, Florida where she was an active member in the Tanglewood Actors Guild. Joanna was also a member of First United Methodist Church in East Peoria, IL. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Funeral services will be at 10 am Monday, July 25, 2011 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria. Pastor Mary Arnold will officiate. Visitation will be from 2-4 pm Sunday, July 24, 2011 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery in Morton, IL.
