Joann Haywood, 88, of Metamora, passed away at 4:50pm Saturday, June 25, 2022 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

She was born May 16, 1934 in Harrisburg to the late Ralph and Beedy Abney Temple. She married Paul E. Haywood on December 14, 1952; he preceded her in death in 1994.

Surviving are two children, Roger Haywood (Tina) and Paula J. Steffen; seven grandchildren, Andrea Haywood, Nick Chambers (Bobbi), Mitchell Haywood (Jessie), Joshua Haywood (Sophia), Caleb Haywood (Rylee), Dylan Steffen, and Sarah Haywood; three great-grandchildren, Ivan Haywood, Roman Haywood, and Weston Haywood; and a daughter-in-law, Diane Haywood.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Greg W. Haywood; brother, James Temple, and sisters, Mildred Paris and Anna Lee Ruckman.

Joann was a member of First Baptist Church in Washington since 1960. She was a loving wife, mom, and grandma, cherishing time spent with her family.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30pm Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be at 1:00pm Tuesday until the time of the service. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Metamora.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
