Obituary

JoAnn Donehue, 87, of Metamora, formerly of Washington, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Snyder Village in Metamora.

She was born July 19, 1936 in Russellville, AL to Samuel Houston and Dell (Fredick) Downey.  She married Albert E. Hogan.  He preceded her in death.  She later married Donald W. Donehue in Morton on September 10, 1973.  He preceded her in death on October 6, 2022.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Wilda Hanson, Irene Haley; brother, Jack Downey; step-daughter, Brenda Gressett; and two half siblings, Cassie and Homer.

Surviving are two children, Alan (Diane) Hogan, Alesia (Mike) Coombs; step-daughter, Linda (Jim) Fondren; four grandchildren, Ryan and Nicholas Hogan, and Alec and Lindsey Coombs; four step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

JoAnn worked at Weinstein's in Morton before retiring.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Morton.  She was a diehard Cubs fan, avid bowler, enjoyed cooking, and loved spending time with her grandkids.

Cremation has been accorded.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 3rd from 12 to 3pm at the Vietnam Veterans of Illinois "The Bunker" in Sunnyland.  Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
