Obituary WASHINGTON - Joan M. Mercer, 74, of Washington died at 6:30 pm Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Washington Christian Village in Washington. Born on February 20, 1935 in East Chicago, IN, to Charley and Clare Auspisetter Boldon, she married Everett R. Mercer on December 30, 1956 in LeRoy, IL. Her parents and husband preceded her in death. Surviving are 1 daughter, Kathy Mercer of Washington, IL, 2 sons, Charles Everett (Margaret) Mercer of Sesser, IL and Jerry Courtland Mercer of Washington, IL, and 5 grandchildren. Joan obtained a Bachelor of Nursing Degree from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1956. She worked as a Nurse at Methodist Hospital in Peoria for 30 years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and also Highview Christian Church in Washington. Services will be at 3 pm on Friday, October 23, 2009 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Pastor Danny Earl Mercer will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services and burial will be in Spring Bay Cemetery. Memorials may be made to ADDWC.
