Jimmy "Jim" Powell, 69, of East Peoria, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born June 11, 1954 in Peoria to the late Leland and Idalene Darley Powell.  He married Lynn Ahlgren on May 21, 1977.  He later married Rebecca Davis in East Peoria on October 19, 1985.  She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Amber Sweet, April Powell; granddaughter, Olivia Sweet; brother, David Powell; and sister, Mary Powell.

Jim worked as a mechanic in the Peoria area and at Caterpillar Inc. in Mapleton before retiring.  He loved to fish and spend time with his friends and family.  He will be dearly missed.

Cremation has been accorded.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
