Jim Deaton, 70, of Washington, passed away at 7:15pm Saturday, January 1, 2022 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born March 23, 1951 to the late Bob and Rosalyn Deaton. He is survived by his wife Linda; they enjoyed nearly 30 years of love, fun, and laughter after joining their families as one on August 1, 1992.

Also surviving are his children, Chad Deaton of Washington, Ryan Deaton of Burr Ridge, Ryan Kroll of East Peoria, and Lindsay (Tyler) Schwend of Normal; grandchildren, Kayleigh Johnson, Isabella Deaton, and Owen, Brady, and Olivia Schwend; as well as many extended family members.

Jim retired from Caterpillar in 2013, with 44 years of service and many friendships made. The quickest way to make friends with Jim was to tell him you were a dog lover, just like he was. You could be sure a story about any of his beloved Maltese dogs would follow. Jim, like "gymnasium" as he would say, had the best sense of humor and you could count on him making his signature napkin mustache or teasing his kids and grandkids that he loved so much.

A private family service will be held, and will be livestreamed. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. An in person gathering for the public will be held at a later date.
