Obituary
Marion Jean Lindsey, 84, of East Peoria, passed away at 4:30pm, Monday June 12, 2017 at her home.
Jean was born December 23, 1932 in Washburn to John A. and Pearl E. Hockenbury Blackburn. She married John P. Lindsey on June 5, 1951 in Peoria; he preceded her in death.
Surviving is a daughter, Rene (Andy) Matarelli of Peoria and a son, John Paul (Deb) Lindsey of Roanoke; grandchildren and their families, Dan (Karla) Thompson of Naperville and Chad (Kindra) Cunningham of East Peoria; great-grandchildren, Blake and Audrey Thompson; four step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mickie Blackburn; brother-in-law, Dick Oesch; many nieces and nephews, including Dan (Janice) Cunningham of East Peoria, who she loved as her own; and her best friend of over 35 years, Shirley Peters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; twin sister, Joyce Oesch; brother, Jim Blackburn; and a sister, Joan Riss.
Jean was a true caregiver who was always there to help someone else. She didn't know a stranger and loved her family and friends. As a testament to her personality, she had two namesakes: a great-granddaughter and a family friend. She enjoyed cooking and was a huge sports fan, especially the Cubs and Bulls.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am Friday, June 23, 2017 at Oakwood Cemetery in Metamora.
