Janice K. Smith, 78, of Dunlap, formerly of Washington, passed away at 11:34 am Monday, September 4, 2023 at her home with her family by her side.

She was born June 25, 1945 in Peoria to Dewey R. and Freda G. (McMahill) Brownfield.  She married Lonnie L. Smith in Peoria on September 2, 1967.  He survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Amanda L. Smith of Dunlap; son, Chad C. (Tara) Smith of Davenport, FL; sister, Judy A. Brownfield of North Aurora; brother, James D. (Cindy) Brownfield of Washington; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and grandson, Marcus Lindsay Milan.

Janice worked as a nurse before retiring.  She loved anything British, The Royal Family, History, enjoyed coloring, painting, reading and spending time with her family.  She will be dearly missed.

Cremation has been accorded.  There will be no services at this time.  Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart or Diabetes Association.
