Obituary
WASHINGTON-Janet Manley, 83, of Washington, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 3:15AM at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Janet was born September 8, 1930 in Golden, MS, to Ernest and Clara Hale Burleson. She married Alvin Eugene "Gene" Manley on February 12, 1949 in Corinth, MS. He preceded her in death on September 15, 1998.
Janet is survived by her one son, Michael (Trish) Manley of East Peoria; brother-in-law, Bill Gober of Sheffield, AL; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Joyce Hurlburt, Mary Lou Gober; one brother, Jay Burleson; and one grandson.
As a teenager, Jan worked in Jackson, TN at a local drugstore. For 19 years, Janet was a forelady at Abbott Laboratories in Chicago. She also worked for 7 years as a real estate agent in Canon City, CO. She was an owner of an antique shop in Lynchburg, TN for 6 years.
She attended Community Bible Church and First Baptist Church, both in Washington. Janet enjoyed spending time with her family and watching Walker Texas Ranger.
A visitation for Janet will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington from 10:30AM-11:30AM. Interment will be at 11:00 AM Monday, July 7, 2014 in Ridge Cemetery in Golden, Mississippi.
