Obituary WASHINGTON-James A. "Jim" Young, 79, of Washington, IL died at 2:34 AM Friday, May 31, 2013 at Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. Born on October 21, 1933 in Crump, TN to Neap and Lucille Gilliham Young, he married Beauton "Bea" Coffman on March 13, 1955 in Corinth, MS. She survives. Also surviving are 1 daughter, Connie Franklin of East Peoria; 2 granddaughters, Tiffany (Rob) Whelan of East Peoria and Amanda (Kevin) Breeden of Peoria; and 4 great-grandchildren, Robbie, Kelsey, and Logan Whelan and Jace Breeden. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jim was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Caterpillar Inc. after 30 years and then worked at Kimpling Ace Hardware in Washington for 16 years. Jim worked for 17 years at Lincoln School in East Peoria as a nighttime janitor. He also loved to work on cars. Funeral services will be at 6 PM Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Memorials may be made to OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL.
