Obituary
James "Jake" Walston 85, of East Peoria, passed away at 8:50 AM, on November 30, 2012 at his home.
Born on the family farm, April 3, 1927 to Virgil and Sadie Cunningham Walston in Nebo, IL, he married Donna Abner on July 9, 1961 at the Christian Church in Creve Coeur, IL, she survives.
Surviving are 2 sons, Michael A. (Cindy) Walston, of Washington, IL, and Patrick J. (Sandra K.) Walston of Metamora, IL, 2 grandchildren, Brittany (Bobby) Ulik, of Ft. Madison, IA and Taylor Walston, of Washington, IL, 3 great grandchildren, Breeann Walston and Brennan and Brody Ulik, 1 sister, Ann (Clarence) Richards, of Pittsfield, IL, 1 sister-in-law, Adine Walston, of Pittsfield, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
Jake was preceded in death by 1 granddaughter, Shalyn Marie Walston and 1 brother, Harold Walston.
Jake served his country in the Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict.
After serving in the military Jake continued his education and graduated from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, MO. He retired from Caterpillar Inc. in 1990 from the accounting department, after 35 years of service.
Jake was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who was a true family man that was always willing to help when he was called upon. In addition to enjoying time with his family, Jake enjoyed his lunch outings with a group of friends known as "The 5 Amigos".
There will be no services, per Jake's wishes. Cremation rites have been accorded. Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements.
