James F. Turner, 79, of Washington, IL, formerly of Stonefort, IL, passed away at 7pm Sunday, January 2, 2022 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.

He was born August 23, 1942 in Stonefort, IL to the late Orbera and Iris Sarah Harris Turner.  He married Herta B. Odeneal in Creve Coeur, IL on August 9, 1991.  She survives.

Also surviving is two sons, Dan and Jason Turner; two step-sons, Carl (Robin) Odeneal, Richard Odeneal; one step-daughter, Patricia (Carl) Duckwiler; three grandchildren, Mike, Michelle, Ali; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Doug Turner; and several nieces and nephews.

James was a United States Navy Veteran.  He worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years before retiring.  He loved the outdoors and spending winters in South Texas.  He was also an avid Ham Radio user and was a member of the Ham Radio Club in Peoria, IL.

Cremation has been accorded.  There will be a visitation on Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 5 to 7 pm at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, IL.  Inurnment with military honors will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington, IL at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart or American Cancer Society.
