Obituary
James B. Jeffers, 77, of East Peoria died at 1:30 PM on Friday, August 25, 2006 at his residence.
Born on May 21, 1929 in Limestone, TN to Lee Roy and Addiline Collette Jeffers, he married Edna M. Davis on February 16, 1953 in Peoria, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are 5 children, Karen (Ed) Myers of East Peoria, IL, Tim (Lynette) Jeffers of East Peoria, IL, John (Cynthia) Jeffers of Morton, Chris (Janet) Jeffers of Groveland, IL, and Marla (Don) Jones of Metamora, IL; 2 sisters, Dimpsie Potter of Sweetwater, TN, and Velma (James) Street of East Peoria; and 12 grandchildren, James and John Myers, Sharon and Janelle Jeffers, and Jennifer (Doug) Swanson, Brandon, Bethany and Blake Jeffers, Brent, Brittany and Kayla Jeffers, and Matthew Jones.
He was preceded in death by 1 brother, Coy B. Jeffers and 1 sister, Audrey Fox.
He was a US Army veteran, serving in the Korean War.
He worked as a machinist for Caterpillar, Inc. for 34 years before retiring in 1982. He would occasionally return to the family farm in Tennessee where he worked another 20 years.
He was a member of the UAW Local 974 in East Peoria, and attended the Oak Grove Evangelical Bible Church in East Peoria.
A funeral service will be held at 7 PM on Monday, August 28, 2006 at Deiters Funeral Home at 444 E. Washington Street in East Peoria. The Rev. Cliff Elliott will officiate. Visitation will be held prior to services, from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at the Oak Grove Evangelical Bible Church Cemetery in East Peoria.
