Obituary Hanna City - James Allen "Jim" Dowds, 76, of Hanna City died at 11:38 AM on Thursday February 20, 2014 at Unity Point Health Methodist in Peoria. He was born May 7, 1937 in Peoria to Charles B. and Julia Ford Dowds. He married Etta Davis on June 3, 1956 in Peoria. She survives. He is also survived by his three daughters, Dana Dowds of East Peoria, Tricia DeMoss of Peoria and Jamie (Barry) Simpson of Creve Coeur; two grandchildren, Josh Dunbar and Jessica Bridgman; and four great-grandchildren, Emilie and Cali Simpson, Laila Dunbar and Hayley Bridgman. Jim was preceded in death by his parents. Jim retired from Sherex Chemical Company in Mapleton where he spent thirty years in supervision and as the plant Fire Chief. He enjoyed fishing and was a diehard Cardinal fan. He loved his cat, Max and especially loved his granddaughter, Emilie. Cremation rites have been accorded. Following Jim's wishes, there will be no service. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria is handling arrangements. Donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
