Obituary EAST PEORIA-James F. Doughty, 87, of East Peoria, IL, died at 5:11 am Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at his home. Born on August 14, 1923 in LaFayette, IN to John H. and Olive E. Thompson Doughty, he married Doris Flynn on November 15, 1952 in Peoria, IL. She survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters, Jennifer (Don) Andretti of Las Vegas, NV and Debra Parker of Portland, TN, and 1 sister, Janice Dickson of LaFayette, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, John and 1 sister, Kathleen Speth. James was a US Army veteran, serving during WW II from March 19, 1943 to November 22, 1945 in Europe with the 104th Infantry Division and also October 7, 1950 to August 10, 1951 in Korea. James graduated in 1942 from Otterbein High School in Otterbein, IN and University of Illinois in February 1952 with a degree in architectural engineering. He worked for C. Iber & Sons, Inc. from February 1952 to May 1983. James was on the East Peoria Planning Commission & Zoning Board of Appeals from January 1960 to August 2005. He was a member of the East Peoria Noon Optimist Club and was a lifetime member of AMVETS Post 64. A memorial service will be at 2 pm Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria, where military honors will be accorded by the United States Army.
