Obituary EAST PEORIA - James D. "Jim" Diviney, Jr., 71, of East Peoria, IL died at 10 am Monday, January 5, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. Born on November 28, 1943 in Selmer, TN to James D. and Ruby Frances Hollingsworth Diviney, Sr., he married Marilyn J. Schmitt on June 6, 1964 at St. Mary's Church in Kickapoo, IL. She survives. Also surviving are 1 son, James D. (Reba) Diviney III, of Glasford, IL, 1 daughter, Stephanie (Rick) Smith of Washington, IL, 1 sister, Mary (Ron) Wagner of Salem, OH, 1 brother, Donald Diviney of Peoria, IL, 2 granddaughters, Brooke (Brandon) Riley and Courtney Smith, 1 great-granddaughter, Olivia Riley, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister. Jim was a Fireman at Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 45 years, retiring in 2009. He also was a volunteer fireman for Northern Tazewell Fire Department, retiring as Assistant Chief after 10 years of service. Jim also served on the Northern Tazewell Water Board, and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a member of St. Monica Church in East Peoria, and the Knights of Columbus Msgr. E.L. Grzybowski Council #7580 in East Peoria and the 4th Degree Knights of Coumbus, Spalding Council of Peoria. A funeral mass for Jim will be at 10 am Friday, January 9, 2014 at St. Monica Church in East Peoria. Father Ken Marchulones will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Thursday, January 8, 2014 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, where recitation of the Rosary will be at 6:45 pm. Additional visitation will be from 9-10 am Friday at the church. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton. Memorials may be made to the St. Monica food pantry.
