Obituary Marquette Heights - James M. "Johnny" Dingus, 61, of Marquette Heights, died at 12:29 pm Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Born on August 26, 1948 in Louellen, KY to James Arthur and E. Fleeta Douglas Dingus, he married Delene Reber on July 25, 1968 at Elmridge Baptist Church in East Peoria. She survives. Also surviving are 2 sons, Jon B. (Penny) Dingus of Bartonville, IL and their children, Brett and Kaylee, and Jeremy A. Dingus of Marquette Heights, IL, 1 daughter, Anessa L. (Scott) Wilcoxon of North Pekin, and their children Joel, Rhianna, and Zaia, and his parents of Winfield, TN. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Kenneth L. Myers, and grandparents, Ovia and Salena Douglas. Jim retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co. after 37 years, last working in 2004 as a Quality Engineer. Also, from 2005-2008, he worked as the Vice President of Operations for United Gear and Assembly in Hudson, WI. He was a member of Woodland Baptist Church and had previously served as a deacon of Elmridge Baptist Church in East Peoria for 25 years. He also was a member of the Marquette Heights City Council for 10 years. Jim was an avid fisherman, and a Chicago Bears and St. Louis Cardinals fan. Services will be at 10 am Monday, October 19, 2009 at Woodland Baptist Church in Peoria. Pastor Joel Newton will officiate. Visitation will be from 3-5 pm Sunday, October 18, 2009 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in East Peoria. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services and a committal service will be held at Meadow Valley Center, 2075 Washington Rd. Washington, immediately following the funeral.
