Jacqueline Maxine Shipley, 92, of Washington, passed away at 12:25pm Friday, March 25, 2022 at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton, where she was currently residing.
Jacquie was born November 12, 1929 in Nebraska City, NE to the late Joseph F. and Lillian M. (Spinner) Blumel. She married Max B. Shipley on September 4, 1950 in Nebraska City, NE; he preceded her in death in 2013.
Surviving is her daughter, Susan (Dan) Weick of Morton; two grandchildren Brian (Kerilyn) Weick of Morton and Shannon Weick of Savoy; and a great-granddaughter, Ruth Weick.
She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Louise Torgerson, Joseph Blumel, and William Blumel.
Jacquie graduated from Nebraska City High School in 1947. She was a reporter for the Nebraska City News Press and later, the Lincoln (Nebraska) Journal Star. She attended Peru State Teachers' College. In 1955, she and Max moved to Washington and became members of St. Patrick parish. She worked for Princess Peggy in Peoria making ladies house dresses and later worked at Rivinius in Eureka. In 1970, she began working as a teacher's aide for Washington District 52. Then, in 1982, she was an aide for District 50; retiring in 1996.
Over the years, she participated in garden club, bridge clubs, pinochle club, book clubs, bible studies and the Singing Nuns group.
Private funeral rites will be held, and interment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
