Obituary

Jack S. Pudik, 80, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's.  Jack was born on May 9, 1945 in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of the late Casmer V. Pudik and Shirley E. Olsen (Norris), who survives (102 yrs.).

On June 11, 1966, Jack married his high school sweetheart, Carol E. Bradle.  Their nearly six decades of marriage were marked by a deep love, devotion, and shared joy in raising their three sons, Brett S. Pudik of Peoria, IL, Troy N. Pudik (Beth) of Peoria, IL and R. Case Pudik of Washington, IL, and spending time with their six grandchildren, Nickolas (Sophia), William, Matthew, Samuel, Lauren and Jane.  Jack was a proud brother to nine siblings, all of whom survive: Syd Asturias (Tony, deceased), Pat Eichorn (Bill), Randy Pudik (Vicky), Mark Pudik (Becky), Nick Pudik (Lisa), Lisa Grogg (Phil, deceased), Dave Pudik (Stevie), Todd Pudik (Susan), and Rod Pudik (Tana).  Jack was preceded in death by his father, Casmer (April 6, 1994), and his beloved granddaughter, Elizabeth O. Pudik (October 17, 1997).

Jack was a man of faith and a devout Catholic, attending weekly mass at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington, IL, until his later years, when he became a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington, IL, where he attended Sunday service with Carol.

Jack's leadership skills were on display at an early age when he earned enough money to pay for Lady, his family's first pony, by collecting unharvested corn from the fields surrounding the Pudik residence. Among other leadership roles, he would go on to quarterback his high school football team and later served as President of the school board for Pleasant View grade school.

In 1968, Jack graduated from Western Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art.  Jack started his own graphic design business in 1970, the Jack Pudik Company, providing graphic design services to clients throughout the Midwest. What began with a drafting table he built himself in the basement of his home grew into a successful company that kept Jack busy throughout his entire career.  Jack retired from Pudik Graphics, Inc. in 2016, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, excellence and innovation in his field.

Jack's creative mind was also evident in the magnificent landscape gardens that he designed with the purpose of revealing the beauty of nature and providing a vibrant and thriving habitat for the surrounding wildlife.  An avid sportsman, Jack organized many summer fishing trips to Canada, dove hunts, campouts and snipe hunts for the family.  Whether hiking the wooded trails on his property, or simply working in the yard, Jack drew inspiration from the beauty around him.

Jack also enjoyed spending time watching his grandchildren compete in various extracurricular activities and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.  He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed deploying a playful prank or two from time to time.

Jack supported many organizations, among which include St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington, IL, St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington, IL, the National Wildlife Federation, National Audubon Society, The Nature Conservancy, Arbor Day Foundation, Duck's Unlimited, Pheasants Forever and Heartland Festival Orchestra.

Memorials can be made in Jack's name to St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington, IL, St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Washington, IL, the Illinois Forestry Association or the Alzheimer's Association (Illinois Chapter).
