Obituary WASHINGTON- Jack Oliver McCumber, 86 of Sunnyland, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 7:50 P.M. at his residence with his family by his side. Jack was born on December 9, 1929 in Muskogee, OK to Donald and Blanche Beadles McCumber. He married Hildred Starnes on November 3, 1972 in Sunnyland. She survives. Also surviving are his children; Bill McCumber and Don McCumber, both of Lehigh Acres, FL, Diane (Dr. Anthony) Malonari of Belvidere, and two step-daughters, Angelia (Ron) Gramm of Washington and Karen (Tim) Woods of Decatur; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jim (Betty) McCumber, Elaine (Ben) Siebenthal and Joe (Ann) McCumber, all of Peoria; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Billy; one sister, Elizabeth Hummel; and stepson, Kirk Starnes. Jack worked for the National Baking Company in Chicago for many years, and then worked with Interstate Brands (Butternut Bread) Company for 23 years, retiring in November1994. He worked as a supervisor and in sales throughout his career. He was an avid water-skier for 50 years, having taught many kids to ski. He loved the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He was a great gardener and loved to share his veggies with friends and neighbors. Memorial contributions may be made to Transitions Hospice or Sunnyland Christian Church. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the entire staff of Transitions Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion. A funeral service for Jack will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Pastor Evan Williams will officiate. There will be a visitation on Monday, April 18, 2016 from 5:00 P.M. -7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
