Obituary CREVE COEUR-Jack H. Atkins Jr., 74, of Creve Coeur, IL died at 2:45 PM Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at his home. Born on June 2, 1938 in El Reno, OK to Jack H. and Jewel C. Atkins, he married Barbara Smith on January 25, 1971 in Creve Coeur. Surviving are his wife, Barbara of Creve Coeur; 3 children, Jack A. (Annette) Atkins of Bradford, Christopher (Heather) Atkins of Creve Coeur, and Ricci (Gordon) Wheeler of Peoria; 6 step-children, Debra (Terry) Kuykendall and Scott Seibold, both of Washington, Michael (Trisha) Seibold of Williston, FL, Tracy Joseph of Carrollton, TX, Steven (Heather) Seibold of Washington, and Lisa Howard of Marquette Heights; 1 sister, Margaret Sommers of Cape Cod, MA; 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jack served in the US Navy for 10 years, serving during the Vietnam War. He worked as a final inspector for Caterpillar Inc in Mossville for 29 years, retiring in 1991. Jack was a member of the American Legion Post #1234 in Creve Coeur. He enjoyed playing Bingo. Jack loved his family and especially loved caring for his wife, Barb. Cremation has been accorded. There will be a private family service in Washington on Saturday, March 23, 2013. Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory in East Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements.
